Oh Lord, a lot has happened!

My dear friends and fans. This is to all people who still read my BLOG.
Again some time has passed since I last wrote to you. Infacht almost a week. A lot has happened since I came back to Vienna and right now I feel like it had been weeks that I was back home in Baden-Württemberg.
Infact I have only just come back from two nice days which I spent in the capital of the Czech Republic in Prag. Spontaneously I trvelled there for I have had not plans for January 6, a holiday. Beside that a good friend of mine, Jochen, stayed there withe some friends and by chance it was also his birthday January 7. I really enjoyed myself. Prag is a great city. I hope you will all soon have the chance to see it. We went out a lot, had great cocktails, a lot of very cheap beer, good food and I even tried out the public transport system, which is as good as the one in Vienna. To summarize I can only say: "Czech this out!"
Before that I was back at work the first week in 2006 at my institute. Working was fine, some successful and some unsuccessful experiments. We will finally move to the new building next week. I am so much looking forward to that. Last week I already moved two book and two pens... :-)
Beside work I had to deal with both pleasant and unpleasant incidents. On Monday I met Nico an old (indeed he is as old as I am) student colleague from Tübingen, who is doing his PhD in Cologne and who came to visit Vieann with his girlfriend. We spent a nice evening in Cafe Hawelka, a famous place and very cosy in Vienna. On Tuesday evening I tried to fix my car, which, after having run from Walheim to Vienna, almost 700km without a problem, stopped starting in the morning of Tuesday and would also not start on Wednesday. So I went to buy a starter cable with my flatmat. But with this it still would not work. In te evening finally I had to call the ÖAMTC. The guy, who was not unfriendly, tried everything but the car would only run after he pulled mine for several kilometeres. Fortunately it would also start the next days so that my trip to Prag could actually happen. Another not so happy event was the death of three of my Mongolian mice. Two of them died soon after the christmas break and the third one is lying dead in the cage right now. Two of them were the parents and they were actually really old. So it was fine that they died. But still it was sad and ugly to dispose off their bodies.
What else?
Well there were more thins, this I know. But I can not remeber right now.
I will tell you in future.
So long, I think this is enough to read.

Restart

Good afternoon!

Let's try this again, now in a better mood.
I mean my appartement is still a mess. My flatmate did not come home last night, he did not show up this morning and I could not reacht him by SMS or phone call. We will see this evening when I come home.
The series of tragedies continued. My mice, oh my god, I really neglected them during christmas holiday but I have left them alone before for several days and they always looked fine. Now the look teribble, skinny and almost dead. I feeded them again and gave them water. I hope they will recover.
Then, this morning, I wanted to go to work and what happende. My car did not start. It was so relieable this winter so far. But maybe the 700km yesterday were too much for it. I really have te get it running again. I love my car.
On it goes. I tried to switch my SIM cards back to the Austrian again. And what happened. It does not work. I tried and tried and tried and finally I have to send it in. Shit!
Today, ok, working, organizing the new lab...
I hope this evening will be better that the last one!

HORROR

I do not want to be over pessimistic. But this is horrible. It's disgusting, awful.
Imagine being away from you flat over christmas holidays and coming back looking at a place that is totally messy.
I can not believe this. Dirt everywhere, the waste basket full, waste bags in the hallway, plates on my computer, the living room not cleaned, wet spaces in the hall, where the shoes were, the kitchen not touched since I was there the last time. I could cry. After six hours car ride, also throug some snow showers, I found Vienna in a snowy condition. Today almpost 15cm must have been fallen. And for the next days between 30cm and 50cm more have been annpounced. Incredible, isn't it? And then, well, I entered the flat and saw what I just wrote to you. I have the shout at my flatmate and - I don't know - if he is not going to clean tomorrow, I have to move out!!!!
